Lab News

Congratulations to Dr. Tiffany Petrisko for her Alzheimer’s Association Research Fellowship. The Orange County Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association joined the Tenner lab to celebrate!

Check out Angela’s latest work on “C5aR1 signaling promotes region- and age-dependent synaptic pruning in Alzheimer’s disease,”  now available in Alzheimer’s and Dementia!

Be sure to check out Tiffany’s latest work on “Influence of complement protein C1q or complement receptor C5aR1 on gut microbiota composition in wildtype and Alzheimer’s mouse models” that was just published in the Journal of Neuroinflammation.

The Tenner lab’s newest preprint is available on BioRxiv now! Nicole and Heidi (Mortazavi Lab) examined the effects of pharmacological C5aR1 inhibition in the Arctic AD model.

Congratulations to our amazing lab manager Sophie for her 15 years of service at UCI!

Congratulations Tenner Graduates!! On a cloudy Friday afternoon, the Tenner Lab celebrated the achievements of 5 graduating students. Undergraduate Megan Garcia will begin her PhD at Harvard University for Biological Science in Public Health while Karina Chavez, Jose Lara, and Eduardo Lopez (Bohlson Lab) will take a gap year while applying to medical or PA school. Cameron Pormir (Bohlson Lab MS in Biotechnology) will be working at UC San Diego.

Beau Erro was selected as a UCI SURP (Summer Undergraduate Research Program) Fellow for Summer 2023. Congratulations Beau!

Tiffany Petrisko was awarded the 2023 Barbara K. Burgess Postdoctoral Fellowship!

Angela Gomez-Arboledas’ work on  C5aR1 antagonism alters microglial polarization and mitigates disease progression in a mouse model of Alzheimer’s disease has been published in Acta Neuropathologica Communications.

Nicole Schartz’s and Bea Carvalho’s (Mortazavi lab) work on Modulation of C5a-C5aR1 signaling alters the dynamics of AD progression was just published in J. Neuroinflammation.

Megan Garcia was selected as a SURP (Summer Undergraduate Research Program) Fellow for Summer 2022.
